Morgan Klitzke had three goals, Sarah Dickmann, Megan Klitzke and Louisa Keenan had two each, and the Shawano Community High School girls soccer team earned a 10-0 win over Iron Mountain for its first win of the season Friday.

The Hawks (1-2, 0-1 Bay) were in control from the start, getting goals from Keenan and Morgan Klitzke — both forwards — in the third and fourth minutes of the game.

“We were the more aggressive team all night,” Shawano coach Bob Croschere said. “They had a few shots on goal opportunities, but we did control the middle and the front very well, kept possession most of the game.”

Megan Klitzke, a striker and Morgan’s twin sister, scored the next two goals. The first came 10 minutes later off a header in front of Iron Mountain goalie Emmye Hicks. The second, 22 minutes into the match, came when Teagan Monfils’ shot bounced off Hicks’ arms to Megan Klitzke.

Morgan Klitzke scored in the 35th minute, and Dickmann, a sophomore midfielder, scored in the 37th minute, putting the Hawks up 6-0 by halftime.

Iron Mountain switched to Hannah Hakamaki in goal in the second half, but Shawano put in four more goals.

Dickmann and Keenan each hit their second goals, followed by Morgan Klitzke’s third. With 6 minutes left in the match, Lexi Dobberstein added goal No. 10.

Midfielder Lindsey McFarlane had three assists.

Tessa Kemp and Carlie Hinnefeld combined for two saves and the shutout in goal for Shawano.

The Hawks are hoping for more of a test Saturday at a tournament at Wausau West.

“The lopsided games — it’s nice to get the win — but it’s always nice to get the challenge,” Croschere said. “Sometimes it’s good to get the challenge because to shows you holes in the team.”

The team remains a work in progress, the coach said, and the early nonconference games are helping to solidify the team after early-season delays because of weather.

“We’re still kind of learning positions and who is going to be where,” Croschere said. “Everything is up in the air. I’ll make changes if I need to.”
