Shawano boys win Antigo invitational

Girls finish third

Junior Zeke Gueths and senior Daniel Boivin scored double wins Thursday to lead the Shawano Community High School boys track team to a first-place finish at the Dale Peterson Invitational at Antigo High School.

The Shawano girls placed third, behind champion Medford and runnerup Clintonville.

Gueths won the shot put with a throw of 44 feet, 4.5 inches. His best throw in the discus went 133-3.

Boivin won the 300 hurdles in 43.12 seconds. Shawano fell just short of a sweep of the top three spots, as Tyrell Hesse finished second and Michael Mault fourth.

Boivin also won the pole vault, clearing 12 feet.

Hesse captured first in high jump, going 5-9.

Also recording firsts for the Hawks were Jake Klister (54.58) in the 400 — he also placed second in the 800 — and Michael Mault (17-8) in the long jump. The 4x400 relay team of Klister, Andrew Cardish, Boivin and Hesse won in 3:45.

Erika Dunnam won the Shawano girls’ only firsts, in the shot put (35-3) and discus (96-8). The Hawks finished 1-2-3 in the discuss, with Hannah Wendorff second and Gabby Krueger third.

Clintonville’s boys were paced by Todd Taylor, who won the 100, 200 and triple jump. Thomas Miller won the 3,200 for the Truckers.

First-place finishers for the Clintonville girls were Chrissy Betz, 100 hurdles and pole vault; Ali Johnson, 800 and high jump; Jessica Petruzates, 3,200; Betz, Autumn Voigt, Emma Weatherwax and Jessie Barker, 4x100 relay.
