Local schools compete at state trap shoot

Bonduel’s Rusch among top female shooters

Trap shooters from Shawano, Bonduel, Wolf River Lutheran and Clintonville completed the spring season by competing in the 2019 Wisconsin State High School Clay Target League State Tournament at the Wisconsin Trapshooting Association Shooting Complex in Rome, Wisconsin, on June 8.

Determined by a average weekly score, shooters competed in one of three classifications — novice (0-14.99), junior varsity (15-18.99) or varsity (19-25).

Bonduel

Of the local teams competing, Bonduel turned in the best finish as a team, taking 40th with a score of 442. Denmark was the top-finishing team with a score of 481.

Bonduel had 22 competitors in action, with nine at the varsity classification.

Sidney Rusch turned in the Bears top score after hitting 94 of a possible 100 targets. That score tied her for seventh among all the female varsity shooters at the state tournament.

Derek Gibbons finished with a 93, which included a perfect 25 on his final round of shooting.

Trinity Brede (86), Parker Perry (85), Cade Wilcox (84), Nathan Kelly (82), Brooke Kelly (82), Eli Inman (81), Alexandar Owen (66) were the other Bonduel varsity shooters.

Nine Bonduel shooters were in the junior varsity classification.

Emma Inman and Judah Griesbach each shot 78s, while Riley Bosman recorded a 77.

Caleb Guenterberg (75), Olivia Grant (71), Rhett Hertzfeldt (69), Danielle Rusch (69), Bradey Giese (67) and Gaven Vance (61) also competed at the JV classification.

The final four Bonduel shooters — Terry Bosman (77), Evan Wilcox (66), Jayson Toellner (52) and Tucker Bosman (13) — were in the novice classification.

Bonduel came in fourth in its nine-team conference this spring.

Clintonville

Clintonville finished with a team score of 440 to take 44th place.

Of the 13 Trucker shooters competing, two were in the varsity classification.

Ben McCaslin finished with a score of 94, tying him for 46th among the male varsity shooters.

Erika Oreskovich was Clintonville’s other varsity shooter, scoring an 86.

The Truckers had 10 JV shooters, with Joshua Meating’s 87 leading the way.

Casey Ploederl (87), Brody Prill (86), Mason Zschaechner (80), Duke Johnson (78), Ryan Genskow (76), Cole Steenboch (71), Hunter Sirna (64), Keegan Meyer (57) and Cody Conradt (42) were the other Truckers competing at the JV classification.

Rebecca Meating (70) was the team’s lone shooter at the novice level.

Clintonville came in sixth in its seven-team conference.

Shawano

Shawano sent nine shooters to the state competition, with the team earning a score of 426 to place 51st.

The Hawks had four varsity, two JV and three novice shooters.

Bryce Marohl was the team’s top shooter with a 92, while McKenzie Trinko was close behind with an 88.

Chris Parker (86) and Parker Trinko (77) were the other varsity shooters.

Nathaniel Neumann (83) and Ticeon Olson (76) were the team’s JV competitors.

Tristan Sheldon (73), Emily Thornock (63) and Riley Siegfried (55) represented Shawano as novice shooters.

The Hawks came in fifth in their nine-team conference.

Wolf River Lutheran

Three shooters from Wolf River Lutheran competed at the state tournament.

WRL did not qualify for a team score.

Hunter Genke finished with a score of 80 at the varsity classification.

Daniel Schmidt (81) and James Rottier (75) competed in the JV classification.

WRL came in fourth in its nine-team conference this spring.
