The Bonduel Legion baseball team scored two runs in the ninth inning to escape with a 3-1 victory over Clintonville Post 63 on Sunday in Clintonville.
A wild pitch allowed Bonduel’s Cole Letter to score the go-ahead run in the ninth. An insurance run was added when Aaron Margelofsky scored on a Riddik Bohm sacrifice fly.
Noah Beilfuss sealed the season-opening win for the Grizzlies by tossing a scoreless frame in the bottom of the ninth. Beilfuss struck out four batters and did not allow a hit over three innings of work.
Isaac Boldt started the game for Bonduel and struck out nine batters over six innings.
Clintonville, which slipped to 1-1 overall, ended up with four hits in the game. Bonduel tallied just three.
Brock Smejkal took a no decision for Clintonville despite allowing just one run over seven innings.
