Wittenberg Birnamwood got its season started on Thursday, competing in an invitational at Northland Pines High School. The girls team accumulated 86 points to place fourth, while the boys came in fifth with 56 points.
Chloe King (400-meter) and Jenna Stone (1,600) led the girls team with first-place finishes. Emma Herb (shot put), Lauren Dombeck (200 hurdles) and Stone (800) each placed second, while Dombeck also came in third in the 55 hurdles.
King placed fourth in the 200, while Jalynn Horacek took fourth in the 55 hurdles, 200 hurdles and triple jump.
On the boys side, Cole Schairer placed first in the 800 and 1,600. He was also on the second-place finishing 4x400 relay team, which was rounded out by Luke Muscha, Simon Schairer and Deakyn Suess.
Simon Schairer (800) and Luis Rodriguez (shot put) each placed third. Kyle Linke came in fourth in the 55 hurdles and 200 hurdles, while Simon Schairer was also fourth in the 400.
