Scott Owen Special to the Leader
Jason Stueck saved the best for last as he utilized a daring high side pass to go from third to first in the final turn of the final lap for his second Mighty Four win of the season.
Trent Nolan made it three first-place finishes in a row in the IMCA Stock Car class. Lucas Lamberies won his fourth IMCA Sport Mod feature while Brett Swedberg (Late Model) and Kevin Feck (IMCA Modified) each notched their second wins of the season. Kyle Raddant won the IMCA Sport Mod Dual on the Dirt.
Luke Postl took the lead on the opening lap of the Late Model feature as Swedberg followed him in second. Swedberg got underneath Postl on lap five and did not relinquish the lead as he went on to lead the final 15 laps for the win. Postl went on to finish second. Derek Janke, Joe Reuter and Joel Bennett completed the top-five.
The IMCA Modified feature saw Tim Rothe snag the lead on lap one. Rothe was chased early on by Eddie Muenster. Feck moved to second on lap six of the race and set his sights on Rothe. Rothe still led on lap 10 as Lance Arneson and Marcus Yarie now joined Feck in the battle for second.
Feck pulled to the outside of Rothe entering turn one on lap 14 and took the lead away from Rothe. Arneson followed Feck around Rothe to move to second as Marcus Yarie challenged Rothe for third. Yarie moved past Rothe on lap 15.
On lap 17, Yarie pulled even with Arneson in the battle for second. Though Yarie pursued Feck over the closing laps, Feck would not be denied. At the end it was Feck, Yarie, Arneson, Rothe and Matt Oreskovich making up the top five.
Junior Karcz grabbed the lead on the opening lap of the IMCA Stock Car feature. On lap three, Gary Kasperek pulled even with Karcz and took the lead on lap four. Kasperek, Trent Nolan, Dan Michonski, and Karcz went four-wide for the lead entering turn three on lap six.
Kasperek retained the top spot at the finish line as Nolan and Michonski went door to door for second. On lap 11, Nolan got to the inside of Kasperek as Michonski went to the outside of Kasperek. They went three-wide for the lead with Nolan eventually pulling ahead for the lead and Michonski moving to second.
Nolan fended off the charges of Michonski for the duration of the race en route to the win. Michonski took second, a late-race charge by Travis VanStraten brought him a third-place finish, Kasperek took fourth while Karcz finished fifth.
Rookie Teagan Wudstrack led the opening lap of the Sport Mod feature before giving way to Jordan Barkholtz on lap two. As Barkholtz began extending his lead, Raddant and Lucas Lamberies entered the top three by lap five.
On lap six, Lamberies put the pass on Raddant to move to second. Barkholtz continued to hold a solid advantage over Lamberies though lap after lap. With two laps to go, it looked like it would be Barkholtz’s race, but that’s when it all came to a halt for Barkholtz as his engine expired handing the lead to Lamberies.
Lamberies held on for the final two laps for the win. The race went green to checkered without a caution flag as Raddant, Jordan Bartz, Sawyer Haese and Bryce Clements rounded out the top five.
In Mighty Four action, Josh Slewinski grabbed the lead on lap one. As Slewinski led, Lucas Hacker and Brandon Westphal challenged him for the lead. Westphal went to the outside and took the lead from Slewinski on lap four.
Slewinski continued to challenge Westphal as the duo went side by side for the lead on more than one occasion. With two laps to go, Westphal was slowed by lapped traffic. Slewinski and Max Oreskovich each got past Westphal.
Entering turn three on the final lap, Stueck went up high and passed both Slewinski and Oreskovich in the final turn to score the win. Slewinski took second, Oreskovich third, Brad Nelson fourth and Jeffery Teske was fifth.
