Hawks sweep two from Seymour
LaRissa O’Kimosh had five hits and Courtney Baumann earned both wins Thursday as the Shawano Community High School softball team swept Seymour, 7-6 and 12-2, in Shawano.
Julia Beck, Nicki Ainsworth, Brianna Laabs and Baumann each added three hits for Shawano (4-4, 4-2 Bay Conference).
New London too strong for SCHS girls
Morgan Klotz scored the opening goal for Shawano Community High School, but New London controlled the match from there in a 4-1 win in girls soccer Thursday in Shawano.
Klotz scored off an assist by Sarah Dickmann 11 minutes into the match. But New London added two goals before the break, and then two in the second half.
Splitting tine in goal for Shawano (0-2, 0-1 Bay Conference) were Carlie Hinnefeld and Peyton Going. They each had three saves and gave up two goals.
Shawano is at home again Friday in a nonconference match with Iron Mountain.
Lewis shoots 35 but Hawks lose
The Shawano Community High School golf team lost to Hortonville by one stroke, 162-163, Wednesday at Grand View Golf Club.
Ian Lewis led Shawano with a 35. Braden Mueller shot a 37, and Cole Huntington carded a 45 and Tristan Krueger a 46.
Matt Hodson and John Vanhandel each shot 38 for Hortonville.
Gresham blasts error-prone Marion
Gresham built a 7-0 lead and then finished off Marion with a six-run seventh inning en route to a 14-5 win Thursday at Marion in high school baseball action.
Marion committed 15 errors and outhit Gresham 6-5.
Raymond Creapeau went the distance for Gresham, striking out five and walking one. He gave up six hits and three earned runs.
Riley Nietzer had two hits, including a double, to lead Gresham. Christian Haffner also had a double. Scott Cerveny, Kalen Fischer, Derek Bowman each recorded RBIs.
