New London defeated Shawano 16-13 in overtime in Bay Conference play on Friday, ending the Hawks’ hopes for a spot in the WIAA playoffs.

The loss ended the Hawks’ season, but head coach Alan Tomow said he is proud of the improvement his team brought to Shawano football.

“I’m very proud of how hard we played,” Tomow said. “We had chances to win the game. We have made huge strides in our program, and our seniors were a big part of how far we’ve come. We’ve put in a lot of hard work to be competitive in our conference and hopefully our young kids see what they can accomplish when we work hard.”

Jarrett Laatsch completed 9 for 13 passes for 114 yards and one touchdown for the Hawks (4-5, 3-5 Bay). He threw two interceptions. He led the team in rushing with 96 yards and one touchdown on 24 carries.

Roman Purull rushed for 39 yards on 18 carries, and Brayden Dickelman gained 27 yards on five carries.

Dickelman led the team in receptions with four for 50 yards and one touchdown. Purull had one catch for 30 yards. Jacob Dickmann had three catches for 24 yards, and Crede Timm had two receptions for 10 yards.
