The Shawano Community High School boys basketball team needed a big fourth quarter to dispatch Hortonville 51-44 to open Bay Conference play on the road Tuesday.
The teams entered the fourth quarter tied at 28-28, but the Hawks (3-1, 1-0 Bay) pulled away by outscoring Hortonville (1-3, 1-1 Bay) 23-16 in the period.
Will Cox, a 6-foot-3 senior forward making his season debut following an injury, led Shawano with 11 points. Senior Travis Geenan and junior Zack Sousek each added 10. Kyle Quinn had eight points and six rebounds.
The Hawks shot 74 percent from the free-throw line. Sousek got eight of his 10 points at the line in the second half.
Sean Killoren led Hortonville with a game-high 14 points.
