Shawano boys win Antigo invite
Junior Payden Buck (200-meter dash, pole vault), Tyrell Hesse (high jump), Michael Mault (300 hurdles) and Parker Pues (triple jump) each finished in first place in their respective events Thursday as Shawano won the boys meet at the Dale Peterson Invitational in Antigo.
Shawano posted 151 points. Newman Catholic came in second with 113.
The 800-relay team of Buck, Crede Timm, Michael Klement and Atty Wagner was nearly one second ahead of Medford’s relay team for first place.
Shawano sophomore Tori DePerry set a personal record in the high jump (4 feet, 10 inches) while taking first place. Another sophomore, Alice Hoffman, took first in the 2-mile (14 minutes, 40 seconds).
Antigo won the girls meet with 163.5 points, while Shawano finished fourth with 92.5.
Head coach Dave Hanssen called the meet a “great mental boost” for the team before its Bay Conference quad Monday at Green Bay West.
