TRACK
Eagle Invitational
Five local programs will compete at the Eagle Invitational at 4 p.m. Thursday at Menominee Indian High School.
Led by Emily Sorenson and Hayley Sorenson in the sprints and jumping events, and an array of long-distance runners, the Bonduel girls track team has won the Charger Relays and the Central Wisconsin Conference-8 Pre-Conference meet. The Bears will face familiar foes Gresham/Bowler, Tigerton, Wittenberg-Birnamwood and Menominee Indian at the meet.
Gresham/Bowler’s Allison Stewart has won the 100 and 200 at various events this season. Competing in a larger meet will give her a chance to face some faster runners in the area.
SOFTBALL
Shawano vs. Seymour
Having already lost twice in conference play this season, Shawano will get a chance at conference-leading Seymour at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at Martzke Park.
The Hawks (5-2, 4-2 Bay Conference) dropped two games last week without starting pitcher Erin Cerveny but rebounded with a 10-5 win Tuesday over West De Pere, which was previously undefeated in conference play.
The bats of Shawano have come alive recently, with Brianna Zook and Brandi Gueths each hitting home runs this week. Senior Saige Henning has two home runs on the year.
Seymour is coming off a one-run victory over New London on Tuesday.
STANDOUT
Bonduel junior Kelsey Krueger tallied four RBIs on three hits in her first start of the season in Tuesday’s 11-1 win over Wittenberg-Birnamwood.
She provided some added production from the bottom of the Bonduel order, helping the final four batters in the lineup to score eight runs as the Bears moved to 3-1 overall and 2-0 in the Central Wisconsin Conference-8.

• Gresham junior Drew Haffner threw a one-hitter during last Thursday’s 8-0 road victory over Tri-County.
• Gresham junior Dani Huntington was one of two players on the Wildcats to have three hits and four RBIs in Monday’s six-inning home victory. Huntington capped off the game with a game-winning run as she scored from third base on an errant throw.
• Shawano senior Carlie Hinnefeld earned her third shutout of the season, stopping all 13 shots she faced in Tuesday’s 1-0 win over Seymour.
