WHY IT MATTERS: The Central Wisconsin Conference-8-leading Chargers will look for some payback against Bonduel for a 31-29 loss Jan. 21. These two teams and Amherst are separated by 1.5 games in the CWC-8 standings. Bonduel’s fate in the conference race will largely be decided against Wittenberg-Birnamwood on Thursday and Amherst on Monday. The only other CWC-8 games remaining on Bonduel’s schedule are against Stevens Point Pacelli and Iola-Scandinavia.

WHERE: Division 1 — Shawano at Pulaski; Division 2 — Clintonville at Oconto Falls; Division 3 — Menominee Indian at Shiocton, Bonduel at Brillion.
WHY IT MATTERS: Area wrestlers will begin the quest for state championships at the WIAA Regionals on Saturday. Regional champions and other qualifiers will move on to the sectionals Feb. 22. Area wrestlers looking to make return trips to the Kohl Center in Madison are Wittenberg-Birnamwood’s Ben Vosters (120) and August Peplinski (195), Clintonville’s Jake Reiter (195), and Bonduel’s Garrett Siolka (113) and Jacob Wudtke (170).

Hoffman scored 28 points in a 66-63 loss to Menominee Indian on Monday. Hoffman, a 6-foot senior guard, gave an encore the next night against Bowler with a 27-point performance.
