Bears advance to regional final
Bonduel fell behind in the first game, but fought back for a 22-25, 25-18, 25-16, 26-24 victory over Laona-Wabeno in a WIAA Division 3 regional semifinal match Thursday in Bonduel.
The Bears (17-16) were led by senior setter Miranda Schmidt’s 22 assists and two aces. Junior Hayley Sorenson tallied 11 blocks. Danee Collier recorded 20 digs, and Hayley Pues added 13 kills.
Bonduel will travel to Wittenberg-Birnamwood for the regional final on Saturday.
Chargers top Oconto in four sets
Taylor Nier recorded a career-high 29 kills to go with 19 digs in four games as Wittenberg-Birnamwood defeated visiting Oconto, 19-25, 25-22, 25-20, 25-15 Thursday in a WIAA Division 3 regional semifinal.
Madison Bushman added 48 assists and 13 digs. Amanda Muscha tallied 23 digs, while Lauren Bushman had 12 kills and 13 digs for the Chargers.
Wittenberg-Birnamwood will face Bonduel at 7 p.m. Saturday at home.
Gresham falls to Bowler in playoffs
Bowler handed Gresham a straight-set loss Thursday night, 27-25, 25-17, 25-17 in WIAA Division 4 regional play.
Taylor Hoffman recorded 18 assists, while Hailey Hoffman added 18 digs for Gresham (16-10).
River Otradovec tallied six kills to lead the Wildcats.
Bowler will travel to Suring on Saturday in the regional final.

Hawks top Mosinee in regional
Tyler Buerman scored the lone goal of the game, on Jacob Dickmann’s assist, in the 58th minute as Shawano defeated Mosinee 1-0 Thursday night in WIAA Division 3 regional play.
Manny Morel recorded eight saves, and Tyrell Hesse added four for the Hawks (6-14-1).
Shawano will travel to Lakeland on Saturday, with the winner advancing to sectionals.
Gresham/Bowler drops game to Kewaunee
Gresham/Bowler’s season came to an end Thursday with a 5-2 loss to Kewaunee in a WIAA Division 4 regional semifinal.
Todd Otradovec scored a goal early on for Gresham/Bowler (5-13-2). Beau Hoffman added another goal late in the game.
