GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Shawano loses to Peshtigo

Shawano’s season ended Tuesday with a 25-20, 25-16, 25-19 loss to Peshtigo in a WIAA Division 2 regional quarterfinal match in Peshtigo.

Erika Dunnam finished with 22 kills and 22 digs, along with two blocks. Saige Henning and Brandi Gueths each added 10 digs. Annelies Young had 24 assists in her final game for the Hawks.

Gresham advances to regional semis

Gresham took it to visiting Lena in a 25-7, 25-22, 25-18 sweep Tuesday night in the first round of the WIAA Division 4 playoffs.

Taylor Hoffman led Gresham with 24 assists. Sydney Jenson tallied 13 kills. Mackenzie Hoffman recorded 15 digs.

Gresham will face Bowler on Thursday.

Chargers top Eagles in straight sets

Wittenberg-Birnamwood controlled its match against Menominee Indian with a straight-set sweep with scores of 25-13, 25-8, 25-6 Tuesday in a WIAA Division 3 regional match.

Taylor Nier led the Chargers with 13 kills and 10 digs. Lauren Bushman added 12 kills and 11 digs. Amanda Muscha recorded 27 digs. Madison Bushman had 38 assists and nine digs.

Wittenberg-Birnamwood will host Oconto on Thursday.

Hawks third at conference tourney

Shawano placed fourth in the Bay Conference regular season standings, falling to West De Pere in five sets last week in De Pere.

The Hawks (24-12, 4-3 Bay) were able to avenge that loss, however, with a 25-13, 26-24 victory over the Phantoms at the Bay Conference meet Saturday at Green Bay East. The victory gave Shawano, which defeated Green Bay West and New London in pool play, third place in the tourney.

Senior Erika Dunnam led the Hawks with 48 kills and 38 digs. Saige Henning added 26 digs. Annelies Young finished the day with 75 assists.

Shawano defeats West in final tune-up

Shawano was able to jump out to a quick start against Green Bay West with Cole Nelson’s goal in the second minute. The Hawks continued the pressure with Kyle Easter’s goal in the 39th minute en route to a 5-0 victory Saturday at West De Pere High School.

In the final 10 minutes of the game, Tyler Buerman and Mike Teeter each found the back of the net to extend the lead for Shawano (5-14-1, 2-9 Bay Conference). Paydon Buck scored after halftime as well.

Nelson added two assists, as did Jacob Dickmann. Buck tallied one assist.
