Shawano girls placed 14th at Seymour meet

The Shawano girls golf team began its season Friday at the Thunder Invitational at Crystal Springs Golf Course in Seymour. The Hawks placed 14th out of 16 teams with a score of 458.

Sophomore Brianna Zook shot a 100, Julia Beck played in 106, Emily Smith shot a 124 and Gabby Krueger hit 128 for the Hawks.

Fox Valley Lutheran won the meet with a team score of 350. Hortonville and De Pere rounded out the top three with scores of 362 and 367, respectively.

Megan Groth, of De Pere, was the medalist with a 79.

Bears finish 3 strokes behind scramble winner

Bonduel finished third in a season-opening scramble Friday at River Island Golf Course in Oconto Falls. Oconto Falls finished with a score of 90, one stroke better than Oconto and three up on Bonduel.

“It was a good start to the season for the girls,” Bonduel girls golf head coach Taylor McAdams said. “An easy way to get back into the swing of things and get us ready for what is to come the rest of the season.”

For Bonduel, Danielle Lautenbach and Morgan Cornette shot a combined score of 48. Jessie LaBerge, Allisson Tilleson, and Mariah Diemel shot a combined score of 45.

Green Bay East also took part in the scramble, but only had two golfers. Their scores did not count for the team totals.
