Dalton Parson captured first and two Hawks finished third as the Shawano Community High School wrestling team finished fifth Saturday at the Trocat Scramble at Green Bay West.
Parson recorded four pins at 132 pounds: Kevin Staron, of Menomonee Falls, in 5 minutes, 17 seconds; Ethan Pfister, of Appleton East, in 3:04; Wyatt Steston, of Green Bay Preble, in 1:44; and Marc Krentz, of Berlin, in 44 seconds. In the championship match, he scored a decision over Chris Ronsman, of Green Bay West/Southwest.
Coach Michael Homan said Parson, despite dealing with a knee injury, “was able to perform one of his best outings this season.”
Wyatt Welch and Danny Darling each placed third for Shawano.
At 106 pounds, Welch scored victories over Jordan Weinkauf, of Berlin, by pin, in 2:30; Zach Wauters, of Peshtigo, 15-2 major decision; and Kollen Kellner, of Appleton East, by pin, in 3:23.
Darling’s key win was a 9-0 major decision over Mike Elliot, of Green Bay Preble.
Shawn Bell (138) placed fourth for the Hawks. Shawano’s fifth-place finishers were Austin Oreskovic (126), Jarrett Laatsch (145), Jacob Sacket (170) and Paul Wilber (220).
Dylan Enno (182) and Jordan Rodriguez (120) each placed seventh.
