WHAT: Gresham Booster Club Holiday Tournament: Gresham vs. Menominee Indian
WHEN: 8:30 p.m. Friday
WHERE: Gresham Community High School
WHY IT MATTERS: Gresham remains undefeated and a perfect 4-0 atop the Central Wisconsin Conference-10, along with Port Edwards (5-1, 4-0) and Wild Rose (5-1, 4-0). Menominee Indian (4-1, 3-1) isn’t far behind. Gresham and Menominee Indian will meet on the first day of the Gresham Booster Club Holiday Tournament, with the winner advancing to a championship game Saturday against the winner of the Friday’s game between Oneida Nation and Goodman-Pembine. The losers will play in the consolation game Saturday at 4:30 p.m. Girls and junior varsity tournaments will also be held Friday and Saturday. Gresham and Menominee Indian will get familiar with each other as the two teams play again Tuesday in Keshena.
WHAT: Shawano vs. West De Pere
WHEN: 7:15 p.m. Tuesday
WHERE: Shawano Community High School
WHY IT MATTERS: Shawano (5-2, 2-2 Bay Conference) and West De Pere (5-4, 3-1 Bay), which finished third and second, respectively, in the Bay Conference last year, are chasing undefeated Luxemburg-Casco (7-0, 3-0 Bay) and Seymour (7-1, 4-0 Bay) in the conference this season. The Hawks can carry some momentum into Tuesday’s matchup, after a close win over Green Bay West and a win over Ashwaubenon in Tuesday’s Sun Drop Shootout at the Kress Events Center on the campus of the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, if they can beat Sturgeon Bay in a nonconference game Saturday. On Tuesday, Shawano will have to do a good job containing West De Pere’s Cody Schwartz, who leads the Bay with a 23.6 ppg average.
