Chargers sweep Tri-County
The Wittenberg-Birnamwood High School wrestling team beat Tri-County 84-0 in a Central Wisconsin Conference meet Thursday in Plainfield.
The Chargers won seven matches by pins and received seven forfeits.
Getting pins for Wittenberg-Birnamwood were Ben Vosters (120) over Eric Buechner in 1:35; Gavin Czerwonka (126) over Tyler Kramer in 1:13; Brenden Randall (145) over Mason Boggs in :40; Braxton Potrykus over Dylan Nigh in :36; August Peplinski (195) over Jacob Galleske in :27; Nick Stringfellow (220) over Keven Garlow in :44; and Mason Enjalan (285) over Andy Simmons in :29.

Eagles lose to Shiocton
The Menominee Indian High School wrestling team came close but failed to beat Shiocton in a CWC meet Thursday in Shiocton.
The Eagles lost the meet 42-34, giving up four pins, two decisions and two forfeits.
Two Menominee Indian wrestlers earned pins in the meet. Kyle Winker (132) pinned Adam Miller in 3:06, and Vel Hawkins (106) got a pin of Brian Dawes in 1:23.
Forrest Webster (152) won a 18-6 major decision over Mitchell Nackers.

Trucker girls fall to 0-5
The Clintonville High School girls basketball team lost to Eastern Valley Conference foe Freedom 48-31 Thursday in Freedom.
The loss dropped the Truckers to 0-5 on the season, 0-3 in the Eastern Valley. Freedom improved to 3-0 in the conference and 6-1 overall.
