Track and field: Tigerton girls 3rd, Gresham/Bowler 4th at invite

Behind some standout individual performances, the Tigerton and Gresham/Bowler girls track and field teams placed in the top five at the T-Bird Invite at Iola-Scandinavia High School on Tuesday.

The Tigerton girls tallied 77.5 points to take third outright. The Gresham/Bowler girls tied Iola-Scandinavia for fourth with 62 points.

Mary Kreklow and Bethany Kreklow were the only two runners in the 1,600-meter run, posting times of 7 minutes, 1.02 seconds and 7:29.54, respectively. Mary Kreklow was second in the 3,200 (15:26.12).

Ladia Block claimed second in the 800 (2:57.32), while Elizabeth Robbins was third in the 200 (30.7). Monika Minniecheske placed second in the 100 hurdles (19.36) and third in the 300 hurdles (58.83).

For the Gresham/Bowler girls, Hannah Cerveny placed second in the 300 hurdles (57.3), while Karisa Nietzer was third in the shot put (28 feet, 7.5 inches).

Jayden Jensen finished third in the 100 hurdles (19.83), while Ireland Jensen took third in the 400 (1:11.5) and Georgia Schultz was third in the 800 (2:57.82).

The Gresham/Bowler boys placed fifth with 76 points. Levi Schick came in second in the 1,600 (5:25.46), while Ezra Spencer was second in the high jump (5-10). The 4x100 relay team also took second in 50.15.

Noah Bestul placed third in the 3,200 (13:13.02) for the boys co-op.

The Tigerton boys and Marion boys tied for seventh with 11 points apiece.

Nathaen Wanta posted the Tigerton boys’ top finish, taking fourth in the 300 hurdles (1:02.39). Justin Wuske placed third in the 1,600 (5:25.7) for the Marion boys.

The Marion girls took seventh with 30 points. Andi Elandt led the team with a second-place finish in the discus (88 feet).
