Cerveny’s 17 helps Wildcats improve to 5-0
The Gresham Community High School boys basketball team improved to 5-0 Friday with a 58-51 win over Marion in Gresham.
Scott Cerveny led Gresham (5-0, 3-0 Central Wisconsin Conference-10) with 17 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists. Killian Eggert added 16 points. Neil Cerveny pitched in seven points off the bench.
Aaron Hoffman’s 23 points led Marion (2-4, 2-1 CWC-10). Clay Detert added 11 points.
In junior varsity action, Gresham beat Marion 45-21.
Eagles defeated by Wild Rose
The Menominee Indian High School boys basketball team lost 60-34 to Wild Rose on Friday in Keshena.
Josh Erickson led Wild Rose (2-4, 2-1 Central Wisconsin Conference-10) with 22 points as Menominee Indian fell to 1-2 overall and in conference.
In junior varsity action, Menominee Indian beat Wild Rose 29-24.
Chargers dominate Iola-Scandinavia
The Wittenberg-Birnamwood High School girls basketball team beat Iola-Scandinavia 60-17 to open Central Wisconsin Conference-8 play Friday in Wittenberg.
Taylor Bushman led the way with 14 points for the Chargers (3-1, 1-0 CWC-8). Erika Alwes and Corrissa Konkol each added nine points. Alwes also had six rebounds.
Char Bonikowske’s six points led the scoring for Iola-Scandinavia (1-4, 0-1 CWC-8).
Bowler swamped by Port Edwards
The Bowler High School boys basketball team lost to Port Edwards 66-39 in a Central Wisconsin Conference-10 game Friday in Bowler.
Thomas Kazik scored 13 points to lead Bowler (2-2, 1-2 CWC-10), while Cody Montez added 12.
Jacob Joslin led Port Edwards (4-1, 3-0 CWC-10) with 17 points.
Tigers lose to Tri-County
The Tigerton High School girls basketball team lost to Tri-County 50-41 in a Central Wisconsin Conference-10 game Friday in Tigerton.
Katie Watters led Tigerton (2-2, 0-2 CWC-10) with 14 points. Emily Wendt added 10.
Sara Lawee led Tri-County (1-2, 1-1 CWC-10) with 12 points.
