Despite not advancing any individual swimmers or relay teams to state, there was still much for the Shawano boys swim team to be proud of after Saturday’s Division 2 Rhinelander Sectional, which took place at UW-Stevens Point.

Several swimmers and relay teams turned in personal best times, with most of the seed times being eclipsed in the process.

Peter Fuller turned in Shawano’s top individual performance, placing third in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5 minutes, 28.85 seconds. The time was nearly three full seconds faster than his seed time.

Shawano’s three relay teams also enjoyed strong days in the pool. The quartet of Collin Buerman, Karson Rades, Camden Kroll and Josh Bergmann completed the 200 medley relay in 1:50.67 to place fourth. The team came into the sectional with a seed time of 1:52.16.

Buerman, Kroll, Bergmann and Fuller joined forces in the 400 freestyle relay to post a time of 3:38.35 for a fourth-place finish. The group had a seed time of 3:46.81.

Shawano’s 200 freestyle relay team of Buerman, Kroll, Bergmann and Wylee Springborn swam to a sixth-place finish with a time of 1:37.83, after coming in with a seed time of 1:40.27.

Fuller also placed seventh in the 200 freestyle (2:03.41). Buerman took eighth in the 100 freestyle (54.76), while Bergmann finished 10th in the 50 freestyle (24.63).

Michael Dickmann placed eighth in the 100 backstroke (1:10.52), while Rades finished ninth in the 100 breaststroke (1:11.96).
