The Crawford Center hosted its third and final youth tournament of the year over the weekend.
Five teams, including one from Shawano, took part in the Pee Wee B tournament, while nine teams, including one from Shawano, competed in the Pee Wee C Tournament. Rosters were made up of skaters ages 11-12.
The Shawano Pee Wee B team posted a perfect 4-0 mark to place first. The Lightning Pee Wee C team placed third after going 2-1.
The Shawano Pee Wee B team opened play against Ozaukee on Friday, claiming a 3-2 victory.
Noah Davids netted two goals for the Lightning, while Karson Stoss scored the other. Jacob Davids, Mitchell Specht and Stoss each recorded an assist, while goalie Dylan Prochaska made 22 saves defending the net.
The team continued play Saturday with a 3-2 win over Niles, Illinois.
Noah Davids scored all three goals for the Lightning, with Stoss, Specht and Cade Dorn earning assists. Prochaska stopped 16 shots to help Shawano escape with the win.
The Pee Wee B team finished the tournament with a pair of shutout wins Sunday. First, Shawano eased past Kenosha 10-0 before edging Marquette, Michigan, with a score of 1-0.
In the win over Kenosha, Josh Fisken, Noah Davids and Dorn each scored two goals and added an assist for Shawano. Stoss also scored two goals.
Michaela Murray and Bryce Lammers each netted one goal in the 10-0 win. Jacob Davids finished with three assists, while Murray had two and Specht one. Prochaska stopped all five shots he faced to post the shutout.
Noah Davids scored the lone goal against Marquette off an assist from Fisken. Prochaska made nine saves to preserve his second shutout on the day.
The Shawano Pee Wee C team opened its tournament Friday by rallying from an early deficit to defeat Milwaukee 7-3.
Michael Dillenburg scored two goals and added an assist to lead the Lightning to the win. Jake Kuehl, Luke Skala, Wyatt Snider, Hunter Jones and Garrett Jones each netted one goal.
Waylon Snider, Wyatt Snider and Garrett Jones each recorded an assist, while goalie Colin Miesbauer made 10 saves defending the net.
The Pee Wee C team returned to the ice Saturday morning, knocking off Fond du Lac 2-1.
Kuehl and Hunter Jones scored a goal each for the Lightning, with Wyatt Snider assisting on Kuehl’s goal. Miesbauer made 11 saves to help Shawano come out on top.
With its 2-0 record, Shawano was placed in the third-place game against Crystal Lake, Illinois. The Lightning suffered a 5-4 loss in the contest, as Crystal Lake went on to place first.
Isiah Genz scored two goals for Shawano in the loss, while Garrett Jones and Wyatt Snider each scored once. Kuehl assisted on Genz’s first score. Miesbauer made 20 saves in the contest.
