Wittenberg-Birnamwood posted a 3-1 record to place third at the Central Wisconsin Conference-East Division Tournament on Saturday at Bonduel High School.
Witt-Birn swept Shiocton 25-12, 25-17, rallied past Menominee Indian 21-25, 26-24, 15-10, fell to Weyauwega-Fremont 25-16, 25-22 and defeated Bonduel 21-25, 25-21, 15-8.
Emma Herb and Marissa Groshek led the team with six and five attack kills, respectively, against Menominee Indian. McKenna Metropulos had 17 assists. Elizabeth Muscha finished with 12 digs and three aces. Madison Schwalbach also had three aces.
In the loss to Weyauwega-Fremont, Groshek posted 10 digs and seven kills, while Metropulos assisted on 20 kills. Muscha contributed 11 digs.
Olivia Zoromski served three aces in the victory over Bonduel. Metropulos recorded 16 assists. Muscha totaled eight digs and three aces. Groshek had seven kills.
The Chargers earned eight conference points during the course of the season, behind Amherst’s 12 and Weyauwega-Fremont’s 10. Iola-Scandinavia and Bonduel each tallied five points while Shiocton and Menominee Indian each had one.
Bonduel finished with a 1-2 mark to take fourth at the tournament. The Bears dropped their first match to Amherst by scores of 25-16, 25-8. The Chargers then swept Iola-Scandinavia 25-20, 25-22 before falling to Witt-Birn.
Mckenzie Wollenberg ended the day with 21 kills and 34 digs for the Bears. Halea Sporisky was Bonduel’s assist leader with 23. Mandi McClone recorded four serving aces while Kylie Guenther had three blocks.
