The Shawano/Bonduel co-op, Clintonville and Wittenberg-Birnamwood swim programs each sent swimmers to Seymour on Saturday to compete in a pentathlon.
Swimmers competed in the 50-yard butterfly, 50 backstroke, 50 breaststroke, 50 freestyle and 100 IM. Team scores were kept.
Wittenberg-Birnamwood’s Lauren Bahr won the junior division after earning 72 points while Clintonville’s Sami Smejkal tallied 65 to top the senior division.
Bahr earned her first-place finish after taking first in the IM (1 minute, 6.61 seconds), backstroke (30.40) and freestyle (27.50), second in the 50 butterfly (29.89) and fourth in the breaststroke (40.08). Smejkal placed first in the backstroke (31.89), second in the butterfly (29.05) and IM (1:07.96), third in the freestyle (27.45) and fourth in the breaststroke (38.02).
Witt-Birn’s Isabella Hegewald placed second in the freshmen division while McKenna Metropulos claimed third in the sophomore class. Hegewald finished first in the breaststroke (34.99) and IM (1:12.39), second in the freestyle (29.21), third in the butterfly (32.80) and fourth in the backstroke (35.45). Metropulos earned second in the freestyle (26.45) and IM (1:06.66), third in the butterfly (28.82) and backstroke (30.36) and fourth in the breaststroke (37.76).
