Casey Baumann has been in a groove on the mound over his past few starts. The trend continued on Tuesday, when Baumann twirled another gem, helping Shawano claim a 2-0 win over Kaukauna.
Baumann surrendered just three hits while working all seven innings. He struck out one batter, walked none and needed just 75 pitches to get through the game.
Baumann also drove in the game’s first run, bringing home Jacob Lacy on a sacrifice fly in the fourth. Cole Nelson, the next batter, followed with a RBI single that scored Joey Tadych for the Patriots second run.
Shawano managed just five hits of its own off Kaukauna starter Chase Stumpf, who needed 75 pitches to get through six innings.
The Patriots improved to 8-8 on the summer and are scheduled to travel to take on New London at 8 p.m. Thursday. New London edged Shawano 3-2 on June 30 in a Clintonville Tournament matchup.
