Weyauwega-Fremont 25
Bonduel won its first Central Wisconsin Conference-East matchup against Weyauwega-Fremont on Tuesday at Bonduel High School. The Bears’ (5-2, 2-1 CWC) strong defense held Weyauwega-Fremont to just 25 points.
Kylie Guenther and Grace Petcka led the Bears with eight points each. Jessie LaBerge added seven and Megan Zeitler and Brynn Reinke each added six. Ashleyn Schnell scored five and Mackenzie Moore rounded out the Bears’ scoring with two.
Reinke and Petcka each recorded four steals and Petcka had 13 rebounds. Guenther also secured 13 rebounds.
“Our defense drove us tonight,” head coach Jerry Reinke said. “They really stepped up on defense and made up for our not-so-great offense. We definitely need to work on offense and get some shooters to step up and score in the double digits.”

Menominee Indian 71
Wittenberg-Birnamwood defeated Menominee Indian in a Central Wisconsin Conference-East battle at Wittenberg-Birnamwood High School on Tuesday.
“It was a battle tonight for 36 minutes,” Witt-Birn head coach Lon Ebel said. “A physical and intense game down the stretch. We lost our composure for a period in the second half and Menominee shot extremely well all night, so we couldn’t put them away until the last few minutes. I give them a lot of credit as they had no quit in them and tested our will.”
Menominee Indian had an edge in shooting, with a 54 percent field goal and 70 percent 3-point completion rate to Witt-Birn’s 53 percent and 37 percent, respectively. Witt-Birn, however, completed 76 percent of its free throws to Menominee Indian’s 45 percent.
Warran Wilber led Menominee Indian with 19 points and four 3-pointers, followed by Rayond Fish with 13 points. Norman Kakwitch, Nathan Frechette and Darwin King each scored nine points and Mequan Corn had eight.
For Witt-Birn, Trevor Groshek scored 18 points and Cory Fraaza followed with 17 and a game-high 10 rebounds. Matt Kapitz and Casey Kerstner each scored 12 and Kody Szews had 11.
