Kewaunee 4
Gresham-Bowler 1
Ninth-seeded Gresham-Bowler lost 4-1 in a WIAA Division 4 regional matchup at No. 8 Kewaunee on Thursday.
Bryce Bohls scored Gresham-Bowler’s only goal off an assist by Zack Fehrman. Goalkeeper Justice Paiser recorded 15 saves.
“We started slow,” Gresham-Bowler head coach Nate Boucher said. “They jumped out and scored within the first couple minutes. We had our shots at goal, we had 10 missed opportunities, and that’s kind of been our struggle all year.”
Boucher said this season was aimed at getting the younger players used to varsity.
“I have a fairly young team and only three seniors, so it’s a lot of just getting experience for these kids. The kids definitely got better over the year playing individually and as a team.”

No. 3 Gresham defeated Niagara 25-20, 25-18, 25-18 on Thursday to advance to a WIAA Division 4 regional final at No. 2 Three Lakes on Saturday.
Karisa Nietzer led Gresham with 12 kills. Hailey Hoffman added 11 kills and four aces. Dani Huntington tallied 29 assists and 12 digs, and Mackenzie Hoffman recorded 10 digs and 10 service points.
“Our girls brought a lot of energy to the court tonight,” Gresham head coach Tim Wild said. “We played well as a team all night. We now move on to Three Lakes, which is a team we played early in the season at their tournament and lost. If we can pass like we did tonight I think we’ll have success. We expect this to be a competitive match.
“We were in a regional final last year and with six senior starters this year, I hope our experience will help us in this match.”
