Shawano senior Brianna Zook finished 54th at the WIAA Division 1 State Championship in Madison on Monday and Tuesday.
Zook, who was an individual qualifier after a fourth-place finish at sectionals, shot a 97 on Monday and ended with a 91 on Tuesday at the University Ridge Golf Course. Her overall score of 188 placed her in a tie for 54th out of 78 golfers.
“The first day I was a little bit off,” Zook said, “but by the second day I was getting used to the course and did better. It wasn’t really what I was hoping for, but I’ll take it.”
“We had a good time,” Shawano coach Dean Kuglar said, “even though she felt like she should have done better.”
Milton’s Mia Seeman won the individual Division 1 championship with a score of 145.
“I couldn’t ask for a better way to end my senior year of golf,” Zook said. “The experience was something I’ll never forget. It’s just a great memory for my high school golf career.”
