Clintonville went 3-1 over the weekend, falling to New London in the opening game but bouncing back for a 2-0 title game victory Sunday in the New London Tournament.

Pitcher Hunter Vollmer gave up just two hits in a complete-game victory, while Josh Schroeder and Nathan Krueger each drove in runs for the Diamondcats.

Schroeder gave the visitors the lead in the second inning on a single.

In the sixth inning, against New London’s Logan Locy, who allowed just four hits all game, Vollmer reached base on a passed ball strikeout, Jordan Koeppen bunted him over, and then Krueger drove him in on a single.

Locy pitched a complete game as well, but his team’s offense couldn’t muster any runs, a vast difference from the first meeting between the teams Friday night. In that contest, New London used a five-run sixth to pull away for a 9-4 victory.

The Diamondcats picked up two victories on Saturday, 12-4 over Waupaca and 5-1 against Bonduel.

Seven players had multiple hits for Clintonville in the eight-run victory over Waupaca, which included a six-run third inning. Cory Reimer reached base in all four trips to the plate and posted two RBIs.

Chad Bork gave up seven hits in a complete-game effort. He needed only 72 pitches.

Bonduel’s Jordan Boldt had three of his team’s seven hits.
