Leader File Photo Shawano Community High School senior Dylan Sumnicht was one of two honorable mention all-conference selections for the Hawks baseball team this spring. He was joined by fellow senior Connor Klish.
Although the Shawano baseball team finished last in the Bay Conference, two of its seniors were named to the all-conference teams chosen by conference coaches.
Seniors Dylan Sumnicht, a pitcher and center fielder, and Connor Klish, an outfielder and designated hitter, were honorable mention picks for the spring season.
Sumnicht was the team’s top pitcher, keeping the Hawks in games against some of the conference’s best competition, including a 1-0 victory over New London early in the season. He also pitched 9 1/3 innings in a 10-inning road loss to Peshtigo in a WIAA Division 2 regional quarterfinal.
Sumnicht had a 3.58 ERA in conference competitions over 41 1/3 innings. He struck out 41 batters while walking 15.
Klish posted a .317 batting average over 15 conference games, tallying 10 singles, two doubles and a triple. He had the 15th-highest batting average in the conference.
New London pitcher Will Wolht was the Player of the Year with his 1.16 ERA over 42 2/3 innings.
