SOFTBALL
Shawano vs. Green Bay East
Shawano, which dropped a 7-4 contest to Green Bay East just two weeks ago, has a chance for revenge when the teams meet again at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at Martzke Park.
The Hawks’ high-scoring offense was held in check in their most recent game, a 10-0 loss in New London, but had scored 10 runs in each of the previous three games, including victories over West De Pere (10-5), Seymour (11-10) and Notre Dame (11-0).
Green Bay East (4-7, 3-2 Bay Conference) is led by Dalia Grajeda at the plate and in the circle. Grajeda has the second-lowest earned run average in the conference at 1.17. Although she only has 17 strikeouts in 24 innings, Grajeda has walked just two batters.
Shawano (7-3, 5-3 Bay Conference) is two losses behind Seymour and New London in conference play.
STANDOUT
Wittenberg-Birnamwood senior Gavin Scheurer ripped a double down the right-field line all the way to the fence to drive in two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning Tuesday as the Chargers defeated Pacelli, 2-1.
Wittenberg-Birnamwood (5-1, 4-0 Central Wisconsin Conference-8) is now the only undefeated team in the conference. Scheurer’s double was one of six hits on the day, and Kody Szews threw a complete game on the mound.
