Senior pitcher Dylan Sumnicht struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up three earned runs in Shawano’s home victory Thursday.
Senior Connor Klish went 2 for 4 at the plate for the Hawks (2-0, 2-0 Bay Conference).
Shawano got seven runs against Xavier starter Jordan Lang over 2 2/3 innings. Xavier moved to 0-1 overall and in Bay Conference play.
Brillion 4
Bonduel 3
A throwing error in the bottom of the eighth inning gave host Brillion a walk-off victory over Bonduel on Thursday.
Junior Wyatt Erb had two RBIs, while Brandon Olsen added two hits and one RBI for the Bears (1-1).
Jordan Boldt threw six innings, giving up three runs on six hits. He struck out five batters for Bonduel.
Gresham 11
Wild Rose 3
Gresham posted six runs over the first two innings as the Wildcats won at home Thursday.
Derek Bowman got the win for Gresham (2-0, 2-0 Central Wisconsin Conference-10). He allowed two hits and no runs over four innings.
Bowman also led the Wildcats at the plate with two RBIs.

Travis Marquardt singled to left field and scored Conner Harris from second base in Tigerton’s walk-off home victory Thursday.
Alan Parrott picked up the victory over the Tigers (1-0, 1-0 Central Wisconsin Conference-10).
Marion moved to 0-2 overall and 0-2 in the CWC-10.
SOFTBALL
Shawano 17
Xavier 3
Shawano posted 10 runs over the first two innings as the Hawks eased to a five-inning road victory Thursday.
Erin Cerveny had three hits, while Brianna Zook and Brandi Gueths each posted two for the Hawks (2-0, 1-0 Bay Conference).
Sophomore pitcher Emilee Bastar earned the victory by pitching three innings and giving up two earned runs.
Gresham 12
Wild Rose 2
Gresham junior Hailey Hoffman pitched five innings, striking out six batters and allowing one hit, as the Wildcats won at home Thursday.
Kamille Davids went 3 for 4 for Gresham (2-0, 2-0 Central Wisconsin Conference-10).
Hoffman added two hits at the plate, as did Makena Arndt and Mackenzie Hoffman.
TRACK
Shawano 10th at Wausau West
Shawano junior Hannah Wendorff took third in the pole vault at Thursday’s Wausau West Invitational with a height of 9 feet and 6 inches, nine inches shorter than the top mark.
Onalee Siegfriend added a sixth-place finish by clearing 9 feet for Shawano, which finished 10th at the 12-team meet.
Shawano’s 4x150 relay team of Wendorff, Tori DePerry, Crista Commings and Annalyse Wilber took fourth (1:28.05).
