An inexperienced Shawano girls basketball team started off the season well, playing with some of the top teams in the Bay Conference, including the program’s first victory at Xavier since the school joined the conference.
Leading the way for Shawano was a large sophomore class, paced by Tori DePerry, who this week was named to the all-conference second team. She was the only Shawano player named to the squad.
DePerry, the Hawks’ most consistent scoring threat, averaged 12.9 points and 8.1 rebounds per game. She was hobbled by an ankle injury that caused her to miss two games late in the season.
West De Pere, which won the conference at 14-0, had two first-team selections: senior Player of the Year Liz Edinger and junior Brehna Evans.
