Colon, Quandt lead Hawks at Sprint Meet

Lydia Colon and Emme Quandt each had two individual top-six finishes in Thursday’s 16th annual Shawano Sprint Meet at Shawano Community High School.

Colon, in the 100-yard free and the 50 back, earned podium finishes, and Quandt, also in the 100 free and 50 fly, shined on the night as well.

Shawano, which competed against the majority of the Bay Conference, tallied 178 points., putting the Hawks in at a fifth-place finish. The Truckers took top honors with 372 points.

The Hawks’ 200 medley relay team of Colon, Megan Fischer, Quandt and Peyton Hrabik finished third in 2:09.56.

Fischer added a third-place finish of her own in the 50 breaststroke, and Hrabik swam strong in the 50 free.

Shawano’s 100 medley relay team of Anna Palmer, Britney Angeli, Skye Bohm and Danee Collier took sixth, as did the 200 free relay team of Colon, Hrabik, Samantha Leiser and Quandt.

Sturgeon/Bay Sevastopol (262) finished in second, trailed by Seymour (233.5) and New London (233.5), which tied for third place.

Marinette rounded out the scoring in sixth place with 104 points.
