The Wisconsin Volleyball Coaches Association’s All-Academic Team announced this week includes seven Bonduel student-athletes.
The all-academic team includes athletes who had at least a 3.5 cumulative grade-point average after the first semester. The Bears selected for the award are freshman McKenzie Wollenberg, sophomore Althea Berry, juniors Kailee Pedersen and Morgan Dunst, and seniors Taylor Weier, Miranda Schmidt and Nicole Hoppe.
Bonduel coach Kim Bodoh, who became a member of the WVCA this season, had seen Bonduel athletes recognized for their academic standing in other sports, such as golf, basketball and softball, and wanted to make sure her athletes were honored as well.
Bodoh, who has been coaching the Bears for three seasons, said she has never had academic issues with any of the girls.
“We just talk about how we have high expectations for our players and we expect them to keep their grades up,” Bodoh said. “They are successful in the classroom and successful role models.”
